The Trails
The Clatskanie Canoe Trails provide over 50 miles of scenic still water canoe runs, each in- tended for up to a full days sailing.We hope that in the future each run will be fully signed and have appropriate picnic areas and improved portage points. Right now they are fairly primitive.
The Lewis and Clark Canoe Trail
The City of Clatskanie is also the beginning of the Lewis and Clark Canoe Trail that runs from the City Park here in Clatskanie to the John Day River Bridge near Astoria.This Trail is a three day journey into the Lower Columbia River Basin. Down sloughs, across and down the main Colum- bia, camping out on islands, and in towns that still have some of the old time flavor of the 50's and 60's.
If you don't have three days to do this trip, you can do one leg at a time over several week- ends.
